Breaking at the Edge

Ah, Swedish pals, grab a coffee and let’s chat about this… interesting film, Breaking at the Edge. I watched it on a typical rainy Wednesday, feeling like I needed a snug blanket and something mysterious on screen. Directed by the fairly known Predrag Antonijević, this film stars Rebecca Da Costa and Milo Ventimiglia, which caught my attention right away. You know, Milo’s that guy from Gilmore Girls – I had a bit of a fan moment myself!

The film’s about an expecting mother (Da Costa) dealing with some supernatural whatnots and relationship drama. It’s spooky, kinda like having Fäbodjäntan playing while you’re home alone. Made me think of that time I walked alone in Gamla Stan after a horror film – every shadow felt like a ghost on my tail!

Now the thing is, the film’s got this eerie atmosphere nailed, but sometimes it feels as scattered as my sock drawer! The story’s all over the place, and I had moments of “wait, what just happened?” Plus, there was a bit too much melodrama for my taste. Sort of like that overly dramatic Swedish soap opera our mums watch. Yes, you know the one.

But hey, Da Costa’s performance isn’t half bad! She gives off a real vibe of “I’m terrified for my unborn child,” which was quite compelling. The visuals do a decent job, too, for any low-budget flick, with gloomy lighting that keeps you guessing what’s lurking in the corner.

Would I watch it again? Hmm, maybe if I’m bored and my TV is feeling neglected. It touches on themes of fear and the unknown, resonating with anyone who’s ever had their mind run wild with ‘what ifs.’ Perfect for a lazy weekend when you want something to chill and thrill. So, if you crave those shadows lurking at the edge of your living room, this one might just be for you.
