Camino: A Detour Worth Taking?
Alright grab your kanelbulle and slurp some kaffe, we’re diving into *Camino*. You know, that film where Zoe Bell kicks, flips, and basically smashes through the jungle like a human blender? If you haven’t seen it yet, well, maybe you’re still stuck on *Gone with the Wind* or something, but let me fill you in.
Directed by Josh C. Waller, who’s not shy with the action sequences, eh? It’s like he threw a dash of Tarantino and a spoonful of guerilla warfare into the mix. And I mean, with Zoe Bell in the lead, can you expect anything less than boot-stomping drama? She’s charismatisch as always, like the sun in a Swedish summer – when it finally decides to show up.
Now, I won’t say it’s all sunshine and rainbows. The storyline’s a bit like your grandma’s knitting – a few good threads but sometimes all tangled up. There’s this whole bit about survival and self-discovery, which is good, but maybe they tried too hard to fill every moment with action and forgot some breaths in-between.
Speaking of self-discovery, it reminded me of that backpacking trip in the mountains up in Jämtland. I got lost trying to find a “hidden” lake. Didn’t find it, but I did discover a newfound respect for Swedish wildlife and the utter inadequacy of my map-reading skills…
But back to the film – the soundtracks were drums-to-your-chest intense, and John Stockwell, producing this piece, knows how to push buttons to keep you at the edge of your IKEA seat. However, didn’t quite pack the emotional punch I expected, but that’s just me.
Time-wise, it’s not a Friday night movie if you wanna relax, but give it a whirl on a rainy Tuesday when you’d rather be anywhere but inside your own head.
So go on, put it on your must-see list. Or in your ‘wait till the mood strikes’ pile. Skål!
