Camino: A Quirky Ride
Camino, man, what a trip! It’s like going on a summer holiday without actually leaving your seat. First off, Zoë Bell is in the lead here, and she’s tough as nails. I remember seeing her in “Death Proof” and thinking, “this girl kicks some serious rump!” Her fight scenes are crazy slick as expected.
Director Josh C. Waller, an old hand with action-thrillers, does his thing again. Though, sometimes I felt like I’d seen it all before—like, there was no new spice in the stew, if you get what I mean. But hey, maybe I was just having one of those days.
There’s a scene where she’s hiking through this thick jungle, ready to go rogue. It took me right back to that time I got lost in Skogskyrkogården—those trees felt alive and weren’t letting me out without a good ol’ runaround! Gave me the heebie-jeebies, I swear.
Talking cinematography, Zoran Popovic does a great job. The shots are lush, full of vibrant greens and deep shadows. It’s like stepping into nature, but, like, more cinematic. You can almost feel the humidity and hear the rustling leaves, minus the mosquito bites.
One head-scratcher though, is some of the plot choices. Like, what? Why would anyone do that? Sometimes it felt like it was made just to keep the action rolling, even if logic took a back seat.
Anyway, Camino is this punchy little gem that’s fun to catch if you’re in the mood for action. Maybe it’s not groundbreaking, but it’s entertaining—and sometimes that’s enough, right? Grab a cup of java, watch it with a friend, and see if you agree. Skål!
