Hej allihopa!
So I finally got around to watching *Cell*, you know, that movie adapted from Stephen King’s novel… The one with John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson. Man, I had high hopes considering those two usually bring some real charisma to the screen. But let me tell you, this one was a bit of a mixed bag.
The premise is kinda spooky—people go bananas when a strange signal transmits through their mobile phones, turning them into… well, something like zombies. I guess? The concept’s cool but the execution, eh, not so much. The film’s tone is pretty uneven, swinging from intense moments to weirdly slow dialogues. It felt like a rollercoaster ride, but not the fun kind. More like the old, rickety one at Gröna Lund that you’re a bit scared to get on.
You know, there’s this scene where characters are trapped in an airport, and it reminded me of the time I got stuck at Arlanda for 12 hours. No zombies, thank goodness, just a lot of frustrated travelers. Made me think how easily we can descend into chaos when things go awry.
Cusack and Jackson, both solid actors, seem oddly disconnected here. It’s like they’re in completely different movies! And not in a cool, contrasty way, if you get what I mean. The special effects too, kinda meh. It feels like they were running on a 90s budget, even though it’s a 2016 movie.
But hey, credit where it’s due: I think *Cell* tried to tap into some interesting ideas about technology and human behavior. Scary how dependent we are on our phones, right? Could easily imagine folks in Stockholm reacting just as crazy if something like this happened.
So should you watch it? Maybe if you’re a die-hard King fan and wanna see how it translates to film. Just lower your expectations a bit, så blir du inte så besviken.
Check out the trailer if you’re curious: Cell.
Okay, that’s my rambling over a cup of coffee for today. Tell me what you think if you’ve seen it!
Cheers!
