Evidence – scary flick eller shaky mess?
Let me kick things off with a little fact: I’m usually first in line for any horror-thriller with some genuine grit. Så när mina kompisar dragged me along one late night after Göteborg Film Festival a few years back, jag tänkte – varför inte? Now, I’m not one to scare easily, remember, but this one managed to give me just enough chills to spill half my popcorn on my favorit-jacka. Inte helt populärt med biobesökarna bredvid heller.
Directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi – you know, the guy behind The Fourth Kind – Evidence tries something kinda ambitious. It mixes found-footage chaos with a police procedural. På pappret, there’s potential. You’ve got Stephen Moyer (True Blood-fame) and Radha Mitchell, usually pretty solid actors, helming the detective side of things. And honestly, they do a pretty decent jobb. But man, sometimes it felt like the shaky cam was filmed by an overly caffeinated praktikant. Mådde nästan illa a couple of times, nearly ruining my efterfest plans.
Yet, när filmen väl picks up tempo and people start disappearing left and right, there’s enough creepy atmosphere to catch your breath. Den klaustrofobiska känslan in tight spaces was spot-on – made me remember being locked by accident in Bio Rio’s storage room one October night (another story, don’t ask – or maybe over a pilsner sometime). Officially traumatised.
Sure, Evidence slips up emellanåt, med plot twists som inte alltid håller water and dialogue that feels lite stelt ibland. Men there’s charm buried beneath the messy execution. Osunsanmi kanske inte är Fincher, men he’s got guts thinking outside the box.
Not entirely scary, inte heller helt usel – Evidence is mixed-bag horror med enough thrills to kill a slow lördagkväll. But if you’re prone to åksjuka, bring a påse.
