“Extracted” is one of those films that’s both intriguing and a bit frustrating, y’know? It feels like digging into a mystery box and finding something half-finished. The premise is super cool – a scientist who can enter people’s memories to solve crimes. It’s kinda like “Inception” meets “CSI”. But oh boy, there are moments where it feels it’s dragging its feet a bit.

The main guy, Tom, gets stuck in the memory of a heroin addict and has to figure out how to escape. Sounds thrilling, right? And yeah, it is, mostly. Adrian Grenier does a bang-up job as Tom. You can really feel his desperation and confusion. But somewhere, it feels like the story gets lost in its own intricacies. I was on the edge of my seat for the first half and then thought, “Geez, när ska det hända något?!”

One thing that struck me was this idea of memories and how they’re not always reliable. Reminds me of this one time at Midsummer in Skåne – lots of snaps, and the memories are a bit foggy, to say the least. What if someone could actually jump into those memories? Scary thought, huh?

The visuals are pretty neat, but it’s not exactly a feast for the senses, if you catch my drift. The film’s mood and tone are quite somber, fitting the whole “trapped in a mind” scenario. But I think it could use a bit more “oomph”.

Honestly, if you’re into sci-fi and psychological thrillers, “Extracted” is worth a watch. Just don’t go in expecting non-stop action. It’s more cerebral, makes you think. Would it hold up on a casual Friday night? Ehh, maybe, if you’re in the right mood. But I gotta say, I’m still torn if it’s a hidden gem or just mildly entertaining.

P.S. Anyone else think this would make a killer episode?
