Go West: A Lucky Luke Adventure
So, there’s this animated film I checked out the other day – Go West: A Lucky Luke Adventure. Felt like a trip down memory lane with a modern twist, you know? It’s based on the character who was practically a staple of my childhood, like köttbullar and lingonberry.
Famous for its humor and wild west antics, this one tries to keep that charm alive. Lucky Luke, the cowboy who shoots faster than his shadow, is voiced by the cool Til Schweiger. Gotta admit, I was a bit unsure. Til’s voice acting is different, not in a bad way, just, well, German. The directors, Olivier Jean Marie and Antoine Blossier, bring a rather fun vibe to it all, though.
I’m sitting there, popcorn in hand, thinking back to summers at my mormor’s house, flipping through Lucky Luke comics that she insisted should be educational. Swedish logic, I guess. The animation – a bit like watching a well-loved comic come to life, with vibrant colors and dynamic shots. It brings a smile, I won’t lie.
There’s a moment where Luke and his horse Jolly Jumper, nearly steal the show with their banter. But then you get the Dalton brothers. Nasty little blokes, always up to mischief. Their antics kinda reminded me of my cousins during Midsummer. The robbery scenes, while predictable, still affected me with their slapstick brilliance.
Was it perfect? Nah. Sometimes felt like it dragged on with a few too many gags. But hey, not all journeys are rapido, right? Maybe it’s me being nostalgic, but the mix of old-school humor and new visuals hit the spot, like a warm kopp of coffee after a chilly day.
Feeling a bit torn, but it’s worth a watch if you love the character. It’s entertaining, with a sprinkle of nostalgia, and sometimes, that’s exactly what you need.
