Hey folks!
So, I thought I’d share a few thoughts on the movie Incoming, which I watched last night. Let me tell you, this one’s a bit of a mixed bag. You know, like when you go to the grocery store and forget half the stuff you actually needed.
First off, Scott Adkins is in this, and for those who don’t know, he’s pretty much the go-to guy for kick-ass action sequences. The bloke doesn’t disappoint here either. His fight scenes, honestly, they’re like watching a well-choreographed dance, but with way more broken bones and less glitter. But, it’s not all smooth sailing.
The plot? Well, it’s about a prison spaceship going haywire. Yeah, you heard me right, a prison up in space. There’s some terrorists, a doctor, and a lot of explosions. I mean, this film might’ve been planned as serious, but it’s got that B-movie charm that makes you question if this was intentional or just… happened. It’s like they threw a bunch of genres in a blender and hit ‘purée.’
The acting? Let’s just say it doesn’t deserve an Oscar, but hey, it’s not awful either. I felt like the characters were more like caricatures, but you can’t expect Shakespearean depth here. Adkins does what he does best – smolders and smashes. The rest of the cast kind of just hangs around in his shadow.
Now, one thing that threw me off was the sound. Some scenes, it’s like the dialogue is underwater. And then BAM, an explosion would wake up the neighbors. Maybe they could’ve taken a cue from our old Swedish indie films where silence spoke volumes. Remember that tension in “Låt den rätte komma in”? This ain’t that.
A fun tidbit, though – watching it reminded me of the time I was on that old Marabou commercial set… kinda silly but tons of fun. Those unexpected moments of excitement and laughter almost mirror my feelings towards this film.
Also, I can’t help but think about our own defense systems, not that we’ve got anything even close to a prison spaceship, but the idea of it all. It got me wondering, what if?
So, if you’re into mindless action with a sprinkle of sci-fi weirdness, give Incoming a shot. Maybe invite some friends over, make it a popcorn night. It’s entertaining, if not exactly high art.
