Mina eftermiddagar med Margueritte: A Simple Joy
Ah, “Mina eftermiddagar med Margueritte.” One of those films where you think, is it gonna be too slow? Is it just about a dude talkin’ to an old lady on a bench? But, gubbar och kärringar, was I wrong! Directed by Jean Becker and starring the charming Gérard Depardieu, who feels as familiar as falukorv on a Friday evening, this one’s a heartwarmer.
You know that feeling when you meet someone new, who’s like from a completely different world, but you just click? Well, that’s Germain and Margueritte, played by Gisèle Casadesus. Germain’s a bit of a loner and rough around the edges, and Margueritte’s this sweet old lady who loves her books. Together on a park bench, they share stories, connect over books and life. It’s like watching the magic happen, but with words. And it’s in French, so all those poetic words sorta dance out of the screen.
Now, a little memory from my own life. This film reminded me of afternoons with my mormor. She always said that you never age as long as you embrace new stories, new people. We’d sip coffee and she’d tell tales of the old days, much like Margueritte, and those were some of the best times—a real lagom moment.
The film’s slow, sure, but sometimes life needs to slow down. Not every movie needs to be a James Bond, sitter ni med popcorn, waiting for explosions. Sometimes you just need a lazy afternoon with heartfelt words. Sure, there’s the occasional cheesy moment, but that’s life, right? And life without cheese isn’t life at all, I reckon.
So, grab a kopp kaffe, and let this little film remind you that life’s beauty often lies in its simplest moments.
