Alright, så jag såg “My Best Friend’s Girl” the other night and I gotta say, it left me with kinda mixed feelings. Det är som när man får en Daim-glass – some parts are delicious, others… eh, a bit too much.

Dane Cook stars as Tank, den här snubben whose job is to be the worst date ever to make his clients’ exes run back into their arms. Låter lite knasigt, eller hur? But hey, that’s rom-com logic for you. Kate Hudson comes in as Alexis and she’s charming as always. Men, lika mycket som jag gillar att se henne on screen, storyn känns som en halvfärdig kanelbulle – it just doesn’t rise.

Nånting that did catch my attention was the offbeat chemistry between the characters. It brought me back den där gången på en midsommarfest when my buddy tried to set me up with someone by acting all cool – it was awkwardly funny and kinda heartwarming, just like parts of this movie.

The humor, well, it’s a bit like Swedish humor – you either love it or you feel like someone kommentarade precis ditt fisksoppa. I kinda enjoyed it, fast jag skrattar ändå lite mer åt Jönssonligan.

There’s a certain charm in its straightforwardness though. Maybe it’s reflective of how things were back in the late 2000s, lite lättare och mindre smartphones… or maybe it tries too hard at times to be edge med sina skämt.

So should you see it? Om du är på humör för nåt med lite skratt, ge det en chans. But, go in with open mind och no expectations. Vem vet, you might find a little nugget of guilty pleasure in there.
