Snake Outta Compton Review

Snake Outta Compton, huh? What a wild ride through parody and chaos this film is. I mean, there’s a massive snake terrorizing the streets of Compton. Could this get any more bonkers? Directed by Hank Braxtan, who’s known for his eccentric takes, this flick brings together comedy and horror in a way that’s, well, kinda like watching a train wreck unfold. You just can’t look away.

The film stars Ricky Flowers Jr. and Motown Maurice—who, honestly, have some guts to take this script head-on. But the whole vibe reminded me of sitting at my grandma’s house in Kungsbacka during one stormy night, listening to the wind howling outside while pretending to be fine watching horror films. That weird thrill mixed with a bit of discomfort? Yeah, that’s Snake Outta Compton.

You know, when the hip-hop legend Dr. Dre comes from the same place, you can’t help but have some high expectations. But then again, this isn’t N.W.A. This is more like if someone took a crazy Swedish summer party, added a giant snake, and called it a movie. It’s got laughs, sure, and a couple of scares, but mostly it’s just me thinking, “What’s happening here?”

I was kinda surprised by how they managed to squeeze in some cultural references, even if they were a bit…obvious. But hey, maybe that’s part of the charm? Mixing societal commentary with snakes—why not?

To sum it up, Snake Outta Compton is like that well-worn Swedish saying: Det är i alla fall ingen ko på isen, which means it’s not the end of the world but, it’s a crazy fun way to spend an evening, and sometimes, that’s all you need.
