Alright, folks, I just got done watching “Taboo” and, boy, do I have some thoughts to share with y’all over a fika.
First off, Tom Hardy. I mean, the guy’s a chameleon. One moment he’s a brooding warrior in “Mad Max,” next he’s a mysterious and grimy anti-hero in 19th-century London. You can’t help but get sucked into that kind of raw charisma. But I’m not entirely sure if “Taboo” knows exactly where it wants to take us. It’s like a labyrinth of plot twists, dark alleys, and shady characters. Sometimes, I found myself wishing for a road map.
Visually, the show is stunning, right? The murky streets, the period costumes – it’s like stepping into an oil painting. And the soundtrack… definitely nails that atmospheric tension. But there’s something about the pacing. Maybe it’s just me, but it felt like it dragged its feet a bit, you know?
I remember back in 2006, I visited London for the first time. Walking through those old cobblestone streets, I felt this eeriness, like the past was whispering its secrets. “Taboo” kinda brought me back to that feeling. Funny, right? How a TV show can evoke personal memories.
And let’s not forget about the themes. Colonialism, greed, revenge – I mean, that’s some heavy stuff. It actually got me thinking about how history is littered with these dark tales. Makes you wonder how far we’ve really come, huh?
But, like, some characters felt a bit… undercooked? Especially the secondary ones. They seemed like they were just there to propel Hardy’s character forward. Come on, give them some meat too!
So, would I recommend it? Yeah, I guess so. It’s a wild ride with a lot of depth if you can dive into those murky waters. Plus, who doesn’t want to watch Tom Hardy brood and kick arse?

Swing by the comments and let me know what you think. Did it resonate with you or did it leave you as confused as a Swede in a maze of London streets?
Cheers!
