Taboo Review
So *Taboo*, eh? A show that throws you into 1800s London with such force, you can almost smell the coal dust through the screen. Now, let’s talk Tom Hardy, who stars as James Delaney. Hardy’s performances always have that raw intensity, but this one? Man, it’s something else. I mean, the guy grunts his way through scenes and somehow manages to communicate more than most actors do with pages of dialogue.
Ridley Scott’s name is attached, which caught my eye initially—legendary, right? And Steven Knight, the mastermind behind *Peaky Blinders*, co-created it. You can tell they wanted to do something gritty and atmospheric, and they totally nailed it. But a little heads up: the series is as dark as a Swedish winter, both thematically and visually.
It’s funny, watching *Taboo* brought back memories of my teenage years running around Stockholm on those endless summer nights. I remember feeling like a rebel too, although I was mainly trying to dodge trams without spilling my glass-bottle soda. I guess we all have a bit of a renegade in us, just not with Hardy’s badass scowl.
Sure, some parts of the plot are as confusing as trying to decipher my grandma’s old recipes. I found myself scratching my head here and there, but isn’t that part of the charm? Makes you wanna binge-watch, even if your body’s screaming for sleep.
Despite the fog of confusion, Hardy’s brooding presence keeps you locked in, which sort of feels like an eerie yet fascinating dance. *Taboo* tips its hat to history while keeping the suspense knot tight. So grab some surströmming and dive into this Victorian maze, just don’t do both at the same time—trust me!
