Ah, “Taken 2”. A whirlwind, isn’t it? I remember sitting in the packed Biografen Park a few years back, popcorn in hand, eyes glued to the screen. Now, let’s see if lightning strikes twice, eh?

So Liam Neeson’s Bryan Mills is back, and this time it’s Istanbul, where he takes us on another none-stop action spree. Look, I get it, sequels can be like rågmacka without butter, a bit dry. But this one, surprisingly, doesn’t flag too much. Neeson grumbles and fumbles in all the right ways, like that grumpy uncle who reluctantly saves the day at Midsommar.

The rooftop chases? Oh, mate, they’re exhilarating—like watching the Stockholm Marathon on fast forward. There’s also a scene with grenades that’s as explosive as when Aunt Birgitta tries one of her infamous snaps drinks. Too much? Maybe, but it’s definitely a nail-biter.

Yet, there’s a part of me that thinks, “Och, inte igen!” More kidnaps and vengeance. It feels like boking the same cabin for summer break. Predictable, maybe, but you just go back every year. Dialogue could use a bit more seasoning, and I missed those quiet moments of tension—those are the herring on the buffet, you know?

And it made me reminisce about family holidays, the time we almost got lost in the maze of Gamla Stan. Nothing like Bryan’s adventures, but that sense of urgency, of knowing the city’s layout as survival, felt relatable.

At the end of the day, “Taken 2” delivers its promise of thrills with Neeson’s charisma holding it all together. It’s a ride for those lazy Saturday nights on the couch.
