Thanks for Sharing – A Peculiar Mix
Alright, folks, here’s a funny thing – I sat down with my coffee and kanelbulle the other day, and decided to give “Thanks for Sharing” a go. And let me tell ya, a movie about sex addiction starring Mark Ruffalo, Tim Robbins, and Gwyneth Paltrow is a bit of a surprise smash-up. I mean, Ruffalo as a recovering sex addict? Peppered with Tim Robbins’ seasoned touch? Count me curious.
Directed by Stuart Blumberg, who’s known for his work on scripts like “The Kids Are All Right”, I expected more drama than laughs. Yet, the film skips along this thin line between gut-punch honesty and cheeky humor. Sometimes, it almost feels like a rollercoaster of sorts, you know, like watching Så ska det låta, and you never know who’s gonna miss a note next.
Now, let’s talk about the cast. Gwyneth – our Goopy queen – does her role justice, bringing some warmth in a world peppered with all sorts of addiction chaos. And can we talk about Alecia Moore – or P!nk, if you will? She’s unpolished and slightly wild, like a comforting mess that somehow fits perfectly in this puzzle.
Watching this made me remember a funny story from a summer in Malmö. I once got lost in Pildammsparken, feeling somewhat adrift, though with nowhere near the stakes these characters face. That familiar sensation of trying to control the uncontrollable… Pfft, life’s just like that sometimes, innit?
Do I recommend it? I dunno. It’s not everyone’s cup of kaffe, but if you’re keen on films about the human condition, spiced with awkward chuckles, give it a whirl.
