Thoughts on “The Blackout”
There I was, last Tuesday, cozied up on the sofa with some leftover skorpor (those dry biscuits you dip in the coffee, you know), ready to throw myself into “The Blackout.” I had high hopes, with Aaron Eckhart headlining and Neil LaBute somehow involved. Sounds promising, right?
Right off the bat, the movie sucks you in, this gutsy mix of sci-fi and thriller vibes. The plot? It’s a bit all over the place, like trying to find your keys in a snowstorm—frustrating but occasionally entertaining. There’s this mysterious blackout, people are in chaos, and amidst it all, Eckhart’s character is on a mission. He’s good, I’ll give him that, but the script needed more than just his charm to hold everything together.
During a certain intense scene, with flashlights darting through dark rooms, I couldn’t help but remember last winter in Stockholm. There was a blackout, and I frantically searched for candles while my cat ran around scared. Felt like a low-budget horror scene—pure panic but a little absurd too. The film kinda nails that vibe of urgency wrapped in confusion.
The visuals, though, deserve some cred. There’s something about those dimly lit shots combined with tense silence—man, even the rustle of wind in scenes felt real. Like it sneaks into your sweater and makes you shiver.
But you know, there are parts where I think the plot just zigzagged without much point. Still, it’s got its moments, especially if you’re into a bit of unpredictability. Not groundbreaking, but worth a watch if you’ve got a free evening. Just maybe skip the skorpor if you’re looking for excitement!
Let me know your thoughts if you dive into it. Feels like the kind of film that divides folk.
