I stumbled upon The Entitled the other day, and I gotta say, it hit me like a slippery köttbulle on my lunch plate. The film, with its sudden jabs at privilege and charm, makes you wanna both laugh and groan. It’s that classic tale of riches not always being the answer, wrapped in a plot that sometimes feels like it’s taking the bus without a map. You know the type.
The film’s lead, a young woman thrust into a world of wealth, has a knack for awkward humor, much like when you forget your gym shorts and have to run in jeans during the skolans idrottsdag. Her encounters with high society are fun to watch, yet at times, the narrative drops the ball. It feels like having a smörgåsbord with everything lukewarm.
Now, let me tell you a quick story. In the film, there’s this scene where everyone’s awkwardly sipping their champagne, and it reminded me of a Midsommar I once spent in Skåne. Everyone was so posh with their bubble glasses, while I stood there, wishing for a cold falukorv and a simpler time. It’s funny how movies can drag you back to those odd memories.
But back to the film – the director does seem like they’re trying to speak to a bigger audience, maybe suggesting we all need a little humility (och lite jämlikhet kanske?). That’s where it shines, like when you find a crisp twenty kronor note in your winter coat pocket.
All in all, The Entitled isn’t topping any “best film” list of mine, but it’s worth a few laughs and a moment or two of perspective. Maybe catch it when you’re feeling a bit “lagom” and in need of a reminder that sometimes less really is more.
