Hey friends!

Alright, so yesterday I watched *The Lennon Report*, and I gotta say, it’s a bit of a rollercoaster. You know that feeling when you’re not quite sure what to expect from a movie? Yeah, that was me. I’d just come back from a nostalgic fika, reminiscing about the glory days of Swedish cinema with a friend, and was ready for something different.

First off, the film dives right into the night John Lennon was shot. It’s like, BAM! No messing around. One moment you’re enjoying some tunes in your head, and the next you’re in a gritty ER. The filmmakers really nailed the urgent, almost chaotic energy of the hospital. You could almost smell the antiseptic and feel the stress radiating off the staff. They’ve done a great job conveying the tension and the surreal nature of that night.

David Zayas as Dr. Marks, wow, what a performance! He brings this raw intensity that feels so authentic. Honestly, he made me think of our very own Swedish Dr. Mikael Sandström, but with a Bronx edge. And the supporting cast? Pretty solid too, although, there were a few moments where the dialogue felt a bit… forced? You know like they’re trying too hard to recreate the drama.

And speaking of drama, the film’s soundtrack? It’s haunting, really gets under your skin. Reminded me a bit of those old Swedish crime dramas. But here’s where I’m a bit torn – the pacing. Some parts dragged on, like a slow winter day in Stockholm. I get that they’re building tension, but maybe they could’ve tightened it up a bit?

What’s really interesting though is how the movie emphasizes the everyday heroes – the medics, the nurses. It got me thinking about the unsung heroes in our lives; the folks you meet at the local Vårdcentralen (health center) who just do their job, day in and day out.

Anyway, if you’re into historical dramas with a bit of a docudrama vibe, give *The Lennon Report* a shot. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely intriguing. And hey, it made me dig out my old Beatles records, so there’s that.
