Heya film buffs!

So I watched “The Timber” last night, and let me tell ya, it’s quite the ride. Imagine a Western, but with freezing cold snow instead of dry, dusty deserts. It’s like the Wild West met Norrland in the dead of winter. You feel the chill in your bones just watching it. The plot digs deep into this whole survival vibe where two brothers stomp through the snowy wilderness to find treasure and save their family… classic, right?

I’ll be honest though, the pacing kinda feels like trying to bike uphill in the winter without vinterdäck. It starts off slow, almost too introspective, but then suddenly—bam!—you’re gripped by this raw desperation and drama. It was like when you’re out on a ski trip and just realize, “Oh crap, I’ve got a whole mountain to get down before fika.” The tension keeps building up, but sometimes it feels like you’re waiting for the lift to reach the top, you know what I mean?

Visually though, wowza! The cinematography is a stunner. The landscapes give you this vast, harsh feeling—like being stuck in a Swedish winter without enough layers. The music sneaks up on you, kinda like the sound of ice cracking underfoot.

One thing I couldn’t shake was the theme of brotherhood and what it really takes to keep family close, especially when life throws ice storms and polar bears at you. Made me think about that time my brother and I tried ice fishing on thin ice. We were half-frozen, bickering over bait, but we laughed till our sides hurt. I think that feeling of sticking together despite the madness resonates.

“The Timber” is worth a watch just for that atmosphere. But, seriously, have a warm blanket and maybe a lussekatt—you’re gonna need ’em.

Catch you later!
