The Untold (aka Sasquatch) – A Hairy Saga
So there I was, munching on knäckebröd and thinking about how to spend my Friday night when I stumbled upon “The Untold.” You know, typically I’m into artsy flicks or anything directed by Bergman, but tonight was all about Sasquatch.
Okay, let’s get this straight first—when you’ve got Lance Henriksen onboard, it promises a bit of grit, am I right? He’s like that reliable Volvo from the ’90s. Maybe not the flashiest, but you know it’ll get you from point A to Point B. Other familiar faces, like Andrea Roth, give it a decent go, trying to hunt down this mystical creature. There’s something inherently amusing about actors pretending to be scared of a hairy bigfoot while trudging through familiar forested landscapes. Yeah, it’s the Canadian wilderness, but squint a bit and you’re practically in Småland.
Directed by Jonas Quastel, I went in hoping for a thrilling cinematic ride but ended up with something more… peculiar. The lighting and cinematography scream late-night TV movie more than anything else. But that, my friends, might be the charm of it, like watching an old rerun you’re half nostalgic and half embarrassed about.
I remember back when I was a kid, traipsing through dense Swedish woods with pals, convinced we’d encounter some mythical creature if we just searched hard enough. Those memories rushed back as the film unfolded—minus the monster, of course.
The story attempts to unravel as a mix of thriller, drama, and something else… comedy, maybe? If I had to pin down a feeling, I’d say amusement mixed with a twist of head-scratching perplexity. At times it’s a laugh riot, other times it leaves you thinking “really?” But I guess in today’s gloomy world, a good chuckle isn’t something to sniff at.
So, do you watch “The Untold”? Give it a go if you’re in a mood for something light and quirky. And then maybe let’s chat over a coffee about how Lance Henriksen can turn just about anything into gold.
