Ticket Out

So, I just watched “Ticket Out” and, honestly, I’m still chewing over how I feel about it. You know, sometimes a film sticks with you, like that köttbulle at a midsummer picnic. This one didn’t quite hit the meatball mark, but there’s something there.

First off, you’ve got Ray Liotta in the mix, and man, he really brings the energy. He’s got that intense look that kinda says, “Don’t mess with me,” but with a dash of heart underneath. It’s sort of what you’d get if you crossed a Swedish police officer with an American mafioso – a bit strange, right?

The film’s directed by Doug Lodato. Now, I’ll admit, I’m not too familiar with his work, but he’s got a way of building tension that’s quite nifty. I felt like I was back on that rickety roller coaster at Liseberg – one minute you’re safe, the next minute you’re praying you survive the drop.

Sarah Wyse, who plays the lead, does a decent job, though I can’t shake the feeling that some of the script just didn’t do her justice. There’s this scene where she’s running through the woods, the leaves crunching underfoot, and all I could think about was that time I got lost in Skåne. But I had no Ray Liotta to save me!

The themes of escape and survival got me thinking of when I first moved to Stockholm. It’s a lot like starting anew when the world around you feels foreign and thrillingly unpredictable. While the film doesn’t completely capture that feeling, it does tickle the notion.

All said, give it a go. It’s like a fika break on Friday afternoon – it won’t change the world, but it might just give you a moment to pause and reflect. Plus, Ray Liotta, people!
