Your Move – A Review with a Twist

Alright folks, let’s talk a bit about “Your Move.” First of all, this is a film directed by and starring Luke Goss, who, let’s be honest, isn’t the name that jumps to mind when you think of blockbusters. But sometimes that’s where the treasures lie, eh?

Now, the movie is a kinda mix of thriller and family drama, which is a niche that’s tough to pull off. It’s about a father trying to rescue his kidnapped wife and daughter, a classic setup, reminiscent of Taken but with a bit of extra grit. Too bad it sometimes feels like a rollercoaster that’s missing a few peaks.

I remember this one time, back in Arvika during the midsummer when my uncle tried to play hero by rescuing a stray cat from a tree. The cat scratched him up good, and we all had a laugh over his noble, yet failed efforts. Watching Luke Goss in these intense scenes, trying so hard, kinda brought that memory back.

Sean Brosnan, the son of the great Pierce Brosnan, also makes an appearance here, and he’s like kaviar on knäckebröd — it adds a fancy touch, but maybe doesn’t quite change the overall taste.

In terms of production, I think it’s a solid effort. The cinematography captures the tension well, but sometimes it feels a bit too stark. There’s a coldness, like Swedish February mornings, that hangs over the film. Its pacing made me wonder if I should have had an extra shot of espresso before starting it.

For those who fancy a different take on the rescue-revenge genre, give “Your Move” a whirl. Not perfect, but there’s something oddly compelling about Luke Goss’s awkward yet endearing attempt at heroism. Just maybe don’t expect it to be a life-changer—more like a rainy Sunday afternoon kinda watch.
